Volunteer Opportunities

General Volunteer Application Form

Community Coordinator

The Inclusive Romance Project is a community for Romance writers, regardless of level, where the focus is to prioritize the safe space and mentorship where these authors of marginalized identities can thrive. Each year, we launch a mentorship program where amazing Romance authors from the industry volunteer their time and grow as mentors for the community. Our Slack Community is our hub for all conversations and connections. To keep our space engaged and moderated with appropriate support, we are looking for a Part-Time Community Coordinator to join our organization.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in community building and networking within the Romance and speculative fiction industry. The individual will commit 2 hours/week to assist with the work below--

What you will do:

  • Coordinate & plan virtual events and programs for members.

  • Post announcements and event invites on the Slack community platform and via mailing lists.

  • Assist with questions from new members being onboarded

  • Work with the Founder on program planning, funding and connecting with potential workshop leaders and subject matter experts in the Romance publishing industry.

  • Schedule any town hall, surveys and pre-event meetings

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • You're proficient in G Suite applications (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms etc.). We utilize the suite to create surveys, submission forms and even materials for this website. This skill will be highly used.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary settings, as part of a team or independently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. As you'll be working remotely and managing an online community, it's imperative that you're solid in providing context and details to the community and you take care in how messaging is delivered.

  • You are passionate about creating an inclusive community and willing to challenge the status-quo. That is what we do here.

  • You have an aptitude for community engagement by prompting discussions, directing members to information/resources and proactively help new members.

  • You have experience in coordinating and presenting at virtual IRP events and programs via Zoom (small scale) or Airmeet (large scale).

  • You possess some basic Graphic Design Skills (Data Figure Creation, Image Creation, Logo Creation). If you work in Canva, that's a bonus.

  • Editorial Skills (Proofreading, Editing, Writing, Formatting & Layout).
